I am "PJ". Designer, Illustrator, Conceptualizer.

I have always been interested in art & design and have been illustrating since I was very young, even designing the winter music performance program cover for my pre-school. I did a lot of drawing all through my childhood, but soon after graduating Beaverton High School in 1989, life took over and my focus shifted to other things.

My innate design ability helped me to survive as a Desktop Publisher, Graphic Designer & Computer Illustrator after having received certification in each of these from Oregon Polytechnic Institute.

The job market was tough, and I found myself utilizing these and my soft skills for many years in a corporate support role. I experienced successful working relationships across many practices from IT to HR, in every size of company and in many industries.

My thirteenth layoff in twenty years was from the within the struggling domestic Solar industry. The issues surrounding international competition in the market qualified me (and the 100+ other laid off employees) for the Trade Act, a federally funded re-training program for trade effected workers.

Utilizing this amazing opportunity, I enrolled in the Multimedia Design Degree program at Portland Community College updating and supercharging my skill set. In September of 2014, I completed an Associates in Applied Science for Multimedia Design with a focus on 3D modeling and animation.

Software learned includes:

Autodesk: Maya for Modeling, Rigging, Animation, Lighting and Texturing
Adobe CS6: Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Flash, Dreamweaver, After Effects and Audition.
Adobe Director 10 & Garage Band

While some of the software we learned from is considered obsolete at this time, such as Adobe Director, the experience providing training in scripting, time line key-framing, movement graphs, component importing and User Interface design.

Since having started my freelance career I have found success with paying gigs, in website design & development, logo creation, video production, and 3D Animation.

My passion however is Augmented Reality & I am currently exploring software development kits for producing my own AR application.
